Swan song

A very good question came up yesterday. More than good, it might the best question ever:
Does Tabetha Jones have the rights to use those songs in her promotional videos?

Here are a few of her greatest hits:
Blood stained lives  by Ronald Edward Griffin using  Awake and Alive by Skillet
To Darkness With Love by Katrina Vore using How Can This Happen to Me by Simple Plan
Shadowed Heart by Anna Lynn using All of Me by John Legend
Glass Hearts anthology using Try by Pink
Cirque Macabre by CS Patra using Applause by Lady Gaga
Wicked Wonderland by Zoey Sweete using Closer by Nine Inch Nails
Bloody Kisses anthology using Bloody Kisses by Type O Negative
The Heart of a Woman by Jennifer Oneal Gunn using Life After You by Daughtry
And there are so many more. But you get the point.

Anybody here think she went through the proper channels to secure the rights to use those tasty tunes? Anybody?
Me neither.
Like everything and everyone in her life, she uses what she wants with wanton disregard for legalities or how it might impact on other people. These authors could be in serious trouble for having their names on promotional materials that are illegally obtained. And does she care? Well, if she did, she’d make legal shit in the first place, wouldn’t she? With the images she uses, the music she plays, hell, with her whole company. But that just wouldn’t be Tabetha Jones, would it?

I just hope nobody turns her in to Youtube before the artists and their record companies get a hold of her.

    • You know she’s probably deleting those videos right now, after reading this.

Ooops, wait! I forgot that would take reading comprehension skills and the act of accepting personal responsibility. Nah.. she’ll leave ’em up and blame them on someone else.

      • She’s still got videos up promoting authors that don’t even “publish” with her anymore. I wonder if their books are still for sale through PF, too. Wouldn’t be the first time she’s kept selling books she had no right to sell. Like when Mystic Press closed down and people kept finding their titles for sale with Mystic Press listed as their publisher.

  1. People make videos all the time on YouTube using music take a look for yourself. They make romantic, comedy and so forth you better go after them as well.

    • Sometimes, the artists DO go after them for DMCA violations, and the videos get removed. Just because people do it “all the time” doesn’t make it legal.

    • Tabetha’s making videos to promote the sales of books. That’s a totally different legal bracket. If she knew the first thing about business, publishing, marketing and the law, she’d know that.

  2. Update:

As of June, 2016, Tabetha Jones has no publishing companies in operation that we know about, so our investigation of her has been halted. The point of examining her in the first place was to advocate for authors that reported no royalties and other related abuse from her. If she’s not involved with publishing anymore, that job’s done.

The posts about her remain in public view in case she starts a new one in the future.

If more publishing concerns about Tabetha Jones (Willis, Farmer Hoover, Saulters, etc) – AKA Zooey Sweete, Emerald Rai Fleurs, et al – arise in the future, we will post relevant updates. But for now, we’re focusing on happier topics.

    Peace.
