Tabetha Jones says:

I do not charge them hundreds of dollars for when they terminate early. There is a fee of $150 for early termination for everything that has been done.

Any Mystic Press or Phoenix Fire authors that have left her got an opinion about this statement?

    • In her fake ass contact it states 150 to leave and gain rights back. If she made you pay more than than take her to court and show her she can’t breach her own contract. Hell I would.

      • Al of her former authors need to see if they can hire an arbitrator to represent them in a legal action against her. They a have a case. It’s just not worth it financially for them to travel to Texas and stay however many nights in a hotel to recoup less than what they’d spend on the trip.

I’ve got another course of action in mind as a way for them to get their money back, but I’ll reserve speaking about it until the fact. 😉

    • I know people that paid more, too.
And at least one that she tried to get 300 from, if not more.
I know that she’s tried to get a lot of money from people that want to leave her by holding their work hostage. And in many cases, has succeeded.
But she can only get away with it as long as people let her.
She doesn’t own the work she holds hostage. She never did. A couple authors have told her to stuff it when she tried to get money out of them for leaving. She blustered and threatened legal action, but the authors stood firm. She tried to negotiate them down to a lower number, but they told her to stuff it. In the end, she had no choice but to back down because she had no legal leg to stand on.
Others should follow that example. Tell her to stuff it, take their work and walk away.

      • Unfortunately tabetha does go for way more than what is stated in the contact. I do remember with one certain preys she didn’t want to pay because she said her work was under par. Whatever she feels is owed she’s going to charge. I’ve seen first hand the “work” she says she does in works and it’s nothing. She does absolutely nothing on anyone’s work. She is the biggest fraud I’ve ever seen and I will help anyone who wants to go to court against her as a witness to her crimes. Yes I do know that I might Hey in trouble for just having been with her but so be it if it gets her out of the game of ripping off people.

  1. To all of those that feel that they need to pay in order to get their rights back: You don’t. I walked away with my novel (which she said was crap, FYI, even after “Cindy Carlo” gushed over how good it was) and I plan to publish it by the end of this year. If she tries to tell me that she holds my novel, guess what? I have a bird that she is more than welcome to. Her contract is not valid and it never was. It takes getting Tabetha desperate enough to save her own ass to even consider repaying what she stole – as is the case with my repayment. She even tried to weasel out of that! “Oh, I don’t have the money today” – she had weeks of notice that this deadline was coming up. “Can’t we do it through paypal?” – Nope, we’re doing it through something that can be tracked and you can’t say “oops” about.

In short, Tabetha is a crook, liar, and a fraud. She cannot be handled with tenderness or consideration for her non-existent feelings. You must ruthlessly go for the only thing she seems to care about: herself. Report her stealing butt to the Better Business Bureau, the IRS, and the Attorney General she’s so buddy-buddy with. Only then will you have a hope of getting your money back.

  2. Update:

As of June, 2016, Tabetha Jones has no publishing companies in operation that we know about, so our investigation of her has been halted. The point of examining her in the first place was to advocate for authors that reported no royalties and other related abuse from her. If she’s not involved with publishing anymore, that job’s done.

The posts about her remain in public view in case she starts a new one in the future.

If more publishing concerns about Tabetha Jones (Willis, Farmer Hoover, Saulters, etc) – AKA Zooey Sweete, Emerald Rai Fleurs, et al – arise in the future, we will post relevant updates. But for now, we’re focusing on happier topics.
